As an entrepreneur, time is one of your most valuable assets. You can always raisemore money or find new ideas, but you can never get more time. (Why arevarious service providers (coaches, consultants etc.) giving away their time,undivided attention and intellectual capital with no compensation for serviceprovided?)• You have the right to say “No” to doing things you dislike or findobjectionable or inconvenient. (Your plumber does not jump up and meetyou in the parking lot, providing services for free!• You definitely do not have to do everything you are asked to do. (When aclient asks you to reduce your commission, give them a discount, make uptheir beds, clean a home, help them pack, help them move, etc. think aboutif this is mutually beneficial and agreeable!)• Your wants, needs and happiness are as important as anyone else (Asbusiness owners you do not have to work seven days a week! Take timefor your life!)Now that we’ve discussed some things to consider, let’s get into how you can usetime to your advantage!How to achieve Your Business Goals by Understanding the Value of TimeFirst, let’s look at how much time you have. You might be surprised to learn thatyou actually have more time than you think!We all have the same amount of time in a day, but it’s how we use that time thatmakes all the difference. If you want to achieve your business goals, you need tomake sure that you are using your time wiselyHere are a few tips:1. Understand the value of your time.(how much is your time worth per hour?)2. Make a list of goals. (What do you want to achieve in the next year? In thenext five years?)3. Determine what is holding you back from achieving those goals. (Do you needmore education? More experience?)4. Create a plan of action. (What steps do you need to take to achieve yourgoals?)5. Learn how to delegate and trust others to help you with your work. This willfree up your time so that you can focus on more important things(What activitiesare in your zone of genius and what activities are best outsourced?)6. Automate or outsource tasks that take up your time but don’t contribute to yourbottom line. (What processes can be automated or outsourced?)7. Set boundaries. (How much time are you willing to give each task? What isyour cutoff time?These are just a few tips to get you started! Remember time is precious andshould be used wisely.• The most important thing to remember is that YOU are in control of yourtime. You get to decide how you want to spend it.• A quick exercise to support you in using your time wisely:• Write down how much you believe that your time is worth.
