Here Is how to build a simple sales funnel for coaches

6 min read

Someone in a Facebook group said the word “funnel,” and suddenly it felt like a missing piece So you started researching. You watched the YouTube videos

Maybe you even hired someone to build the whole thing for youSpent real money on a landing page, a lead magnet, and a email sequences And somewhere in the middle of all of it, you realized you weren't totally sure what any of it was actually supposed to do for you.

Most coaches are already running a funnel

They just don't know it has a name

What a funnel actually is

A funnel is just a path someone takes from first finding you to finally paying you That's the whole definition. You can close the marketing textbook now.

Here's what it actually looks like in real life: someone sees your post while she/he is waiting to pick up their kids. Something you said stops the scroll. They click your name, read a few captions, maybe save a post. Three days later they watch your videos at 10pm with a glass of wine/ coffee. Two weeks after that, they are on your email list. A month later, they booked a call.

Nobody goes from stranger to paying client overnight. The path winds. It doubles back. It takes as long as it takes. That's why consistency matters more than going viral. Your next client might just need to see you once, others a few times more before something clicks.. They are not ignoring you. They might just not be ready yet. The three stages of a Simple coaching funnel

Every effective funnel – no matter how basic or how sophisticated – comes down to three stages.

Stage 1 :

Attention (How People find you)Before anything else can happen, someone has to discover your exist

This is where your visibility lives. Your Social media posts your Podcast appearances, your networking events, Your articles -all of it is designed to do one thing: get the right person to stop and pay attention.

Ask yourself right now : how are people finding you?

If the honest answer is I'm not sure they are,” that's your starting point. Getting their attention requires two things working together – you have to actually show up, and what you show up with has to be relevant and valuable to them.

Your message has to land. It has to make someone think, “Wait, she's talking about me.

Stage 2:

Nurture (this is how people learn to trust you)Once someone finds you, the next question is: why would they trust you?Trust is built on three things. Think of them as the 3 R's:

Realistic --Is what you share credible? Does it feel achievable ? Can people see themselves in the results you talk about?

Relatable – Are you sharing real experiences, real struggles, real moments? The coach who admits she used to create a 27 page lead magnet that nobody downloaded? Way more relatable than the one who acts like she had it figured out from day one.

Relevant – Is everything you're talking about directly connected to the problem your ideal client is trying to solve? If you coach women on confidence but you're posting about your vacation every other day, there's a disconnect.

Nurturing is the relationship- building stage. This is where you invite people into your world - a Facebook group, WhatsApp group, and email list, a weekly news letter, a community – so that the conversation can continue past that first impression.

Stage 3:

Conversion ( How people become paying clients)

Conversion is just the moment someone decides to pay you.It could be booking a discovery call. Enrolling in a program.

Purchasing a course

It's the natural next step after they've found you and trusted you enough to take action.

Here's the part that trips people up: most people who enter your funnel are not ready to buy right away, not all of them. Someone will just see you once and buy.

They need time in that middle nurture stage first. Your job isn't to rush them. It's to keep showing up with value until they raise their hand and say, “Yes, I'm ready.”

Why do you need a funnel even if you are a Brand New Coach. Without a funnel you're essentially posting and hoping.

You're waiting for someone to slide into your DMs out of nowhere and ask to work with you. And while that does happen occasionally, it's a painful slow strategy.

A simple funnel changes the game because:It stops the chasing. When your funnel is set up, you're not hunting for clients. You're creating a path that the right people walk down on their own. They opt-in, the join Your group, they subscribe to your list __ all of their own volition

It gives your content a purpose. Every post you create, every video you record, every email you send has a job. It's not just content for content's sake. It's a step in a bigger journey you've designed.

It builds your audience intentionally. Instead of a random collection of followers, you're curating a community of people who are genuinely interested in what you offer.

It tells you where to focus. No more spinning your wheels wondering if you should be on TikTok or Pinterest or Linkedin. You pick one platform, build your funnel there, and let it work.

How to Build Your Funnel in 3 Steps

No tech stack required.

No four - figure investment. Just 3 steps that work.

Step 1:

Pick One Way People Will Find You.

One. Not five. OneWhere does your ideal client already spend time? If she is a Corporate professional, LinkedIn might make sense. If she's a creative entrepreneur, Instagram might be her home. If you love being in front of people, speaking or networking might be your best entry point.

Pick the platform that feels most natural for you and where your people hang out. Then show up consistently.

Step 2:

Create One Simple “Next Step” Offer This is your bridge between mentions and trust.

A free Facebook group where you go live weekly A WhatsApp group for early community members. A monthly virtual coffee chat or Zoom meet up

A short newsletterA simple downloadable guide.

The point is to give someone who found you and liked what they saw a natural place to go next. Somewhere they can raise their hand and Say, “ Yes, I want more of this,”

Step 3:

Have ConversationsThis is the step most coaches skip. And it's the most important one. Funnels don't convert. Relationships do.

Whether it's responding to comments, sending personal replies to email subscribers, going live in your groups, or showing up consistently in a community – the goal is on going conversation

Through conversation, people get to know you. They start to trust you. They start to see themselves as someone you could actually help. And when the timing is right, they become clients.

The mistake that is costing coaches thousands

Here's what I see happen most of the time.

A coach decides she needs a “ real” funnel. So she hires someone to build her website. Sets up an email marketing platform. Creates a lead magnet. Writes a nurture sequence. Spends easily $4000 and three months of her life on it.

Then .... Nothing.

Not because the funnel is broken. But because the foundation wasn't right. The messaging was vague. The offer wasn't clearly solving a problem her ideal client actually recognized. The lead magnet was 27 pages long when a one - page check list would have worked better.

You can build the most beautiful funnel in the world. But if the copy doesn't connect and the message doesn't land, no system is going to fix that.

  • Start simple.

  • Get feedback.

  • Adjust.

  • Then scale Your Next Step

If you're a coach who knows needs to get more visible but you're not sure how to pull all the pieces together, start with the foundation.
